One to One Mentoring Sessions

122 122 people viewed this event.

70 students from Kosovo between the ages of 13 and 18 were each paired with various PhD students and researchers in different STEM fields

Took place for 3 weeks (one session per week) on Zoom

Students came prepared to the sessions with questions they had (as they were paired with professionals based on their STEM subject of interest), and the mentors guided their mentees by answering any questions, but also providing a real insight into what it means to go into a specific STEM field (qualifications, skills needed, education, etc.)

Aim: To allow Kosovar students to understand what going into their desired career means, and what sort of qualifications and skills they might need. It was also a chance for students to have a taste of networking and gaining honest advice about STEM (something they were not taught at school)

Thank you to all the students who made sure they were on time to and attended each sessions despite it being their summer break, but also a major thank you to all the professionals, researchers and PhD students who dedicated three hours of their summer to helping Kosovar students understand what STEM really means.

Feedback: The mentors were impressed by the high level questions asked by Kosovar students, and 40 of them asked to continue keeping in contact with the mentees whenever they had time
